Cincinnati Museum Center
This past weekend, we had our in-laws in town and decided to go to the Cincinnati Museum Center to see the Star Wars and the Power of Costumes . It is in town for another couple of weeks. It was created by the Denver Art Museum in partnership with the Lucas Museum. The museum kicks off with a video giving an overview of the exhibit. I liked learning George Lucas's "process" as it came to costumes. I had never realized it before, but based on the costumes you know exactly what role the characters play in the movie and what attributes and traits the character has. There were a number of the classic characters in their iconic costumes. The exhibit was divided into themes -- really based on the types of characters e.g., robots, villains. It really was fun to see everything in person and get a feel for size, scale and texture. The exhibit provided great context and background on how the textiles and costumes came together.
