north american international auto show

this past weekend, i went the north american international auto show with my boyfriend, jason.  if you cannot tell, but if there is a post about a plane, car or boat, it is usually because of him. jason got free tickets through work, which was wonderful!  we went on the first day the show was open to the public.  we got there around 930 AM.  we parked right next to the renaissance center and walked over to the show. we did lunch and dinner with his bmw club, so we did spend some significant time at the bmw booth.  i really liked the little fiats .  we did get to see one of the gm race cars that jason has been working on.  he is actually testing that car this week. one of my other favorite perks was the bmw key lounge .  jason was able to show his bmw key and we were able to go sit in this quiet lounge and have a diet coke.  we had a nice view down on the crowded floor.  it was a nice break in the show.  i hope they co...

art cars

at my boyfriend's urging, i visited the traveling bmw art cars exhibit. he had seen it in los angeles and it traveled to grand central, new york city after that. bmw currently has 16 art cars and is in the process of picking an artist for #17. the collection started with alexander calder painting a bmw race car (which was actually raced after being painted in le mans). four cars travel every year . this year, it is all american artists: andy warhol , roy lichtenstein , frank stella and robert rauschenberg . the cars were fantastic. roy lichtenstein's car had his signature dots on it portraying a road, grass, sun and sky. the stella car was fantastic. it was supposed to be a 2-D design on a 3-D object. you can just feel the air rushing over this car. it was definitely worth a visit to look at these fabulous cars! times visited: 1 time spent at special exhibit: 30 minutes overall: A-
