Tower of London

On Jason's first trip to London, I knew we had to go to the Tower of London.  We arrived in London by around 8:30 AM and it was just a bright sunny day.  We went straight away!   We managed to get there right as a tour was starting!  The tour is always a great way to see the tower.  I always learn something new -- this time, we spent more time in the chapel.  We also learned more about the ravens and the back-ups! We also enjoyed looking at the crown jewels . We beat a group of small school children into the jewels, so it was quite peaceful and quiet in the gallery.  The jewels are magnificent.  I also enjoyed learning the history of where each item had been used and why.   Jason quite enjoyed it as well.  There is definitely something for everyone at the tower between the jewels to torture exhibit to general history.   Times visited: 4 Time in tower: 2.5 hrs Overall: A

tower of london

i went to the tower of london again on this trip to london . i absolutely love it. this trip, i did most of the beefeater tour and then went to the new exhibit, henry viii: dressed to kill . i skipped the crown jewels since i didn't have lots of time and there was a line queuing out of the tower to see them. the yeomen warder (aka a beefeater) tour is included in the price of admission to the tour. they begin about every 1/2 hour or so and are the reason i keep coming back to the tower every time i am in london . if you miss the start of a tour, either wait for the next one/come back to it or catch up to the one ahead of you. they talk about the "ins and outs" of the tower as well as lore and stories about its occupants. they are quite comical. the tour might not be suited to young children since most of the stories involve someone being beheaded! this time, i went to the new exhibit about king henry viii . remember, when i complained about how king hen...

tower of london

the tower of london is a must-see. it was one of the three places that i repeated on my recent trip to london. getting there is pretty easy. there is a "tube" stop and the bus goes right there too. the tower is not a place to go if you have problems with unequal flooring like most of the places in europe. when you get there, you have the option of taking a guided tour with one of the famous beefeaters . do it even if you have to wait a little bit for the tour to start. they make it a lot more informative and are great public speakers. crown jewels are also worth a stop, obviously. the first time i went, i was suprised as how much i really like it. perfect especially once kids have learned european history. it's great to reinforce that. times visited: 2 time in the tower: 1 1/2 hrs to 3 hrs overall: A
