national gallery

while i was in london this past week, i hopped into one of my favorites, the national gallery.  it was exactly as i remembered.  it was my third visit, so i just popped in to see a few favorites!

i love the size of it as well as how easy it is find what you are looking for.  personally, in my opinion,
the national gallery + british museum = the metropolitan museum of art
i find those two museums are much more manageable compared to the met.

i paid 1 GBP to get a map, which i followed around the museum.  each room has a number on the map to allow you to follow in order.  then, within each room on the wall, it shows the room's number.  i wish the met had something like this.

the quality of the artwork in the museum is top notch.  they have some very strong examples of many types of artwork, really not specializing in a specific era or style.

i saw a newly acquired piece of art by titian.  it was his painting of diana and callisto.  i love the richness of the painting.  the description of the painting in the gallery though talks about it being a pair and now the museum having both.  i did not see the second one, unless i was totally losing my mind.

the gift shop was also quite lovely.  better than i remembered!

times visited: 3
time spent in museum: 1 hr
